The sights, the sounds, the smells...in a way being in Marrakech reminds me of being back in India - only with a very large language barrier! The souks are wonderful, the people friendly, and my French extremely rusty. I think one visit here is enough - as wonderful as it is, I think once you've seen the main attractions, there isn't much else to do unless you're just planning on relaxing in your hotel (or 'Riad' as they're called here). The food is yummy, though sparse if you're a vegetarian like I am (and if you don't speak French or Arabic, you're buggered as a lot of the locals here only speak those two languages, so finding vegetarian food is almost like the whole needle in a haystack analogy!)
For me though, for now, it just feels good to be away from all the madness of real life, from the stresses and strains, from the sheer exhaustion of everyday life. But mostly, I'm elated to be away from the crap British weather!
Will try to update again once I've seen a few more places - watch this space!
