I actually started this post last week and I'm ashamed to say, I've been procrastinating writing it! But here it is, finally...!
So I went back to Leicester over the weekend for Diwali - for the first time in the 12 years I've lived there, I actually missed it. I missed the familiarity, the thrill of Diwali with loved ones, stepping out into the cold air to watch the annual firework display; and I vowed to do it all again this year, even though I live away. And boy did I make the right choice!
Crowds of people enjoying food and festivities on Melton and Belgrave Roads; colourful lights and window displays, a spectacular firework display, and above all, spending time with my wonderful family and friends. You really start to appreciate them a lot more when you aren't actually living with them (absence makes the heart grow fonder and all that!) and I'm guessing (hoping) it's the other way around too!
Home sweet home indeed! I should have done this moving away malarkey a long time ago!
